Archos media player is Google phones
Archos will combine its own media functions and the operating system android developed by Google, primarily for use in mobile phones. In the Swedish market is android today only in HTC Magic.
Tony Limrick, head of the Archos in northern Europe, states of this page Index Hardware that some of the new media players will be used fully as mobile phones, but that some will only have limited phone functions.
Exactly how it intends to use the Google system is unclear. In an earlier press release talks about the Archos going to stand for the browser, but it does not seem entirely logical if one were to opt out of the browser that is normally included in the android.
It will anyway be able to download appliktioner from the android market and to use the Google services that are built into the system.
Size-wise, the first model to be comparable to the Archos current 5-series because it will have a screen of 5 inches. Despite a larger storage of up to 500 gigabytes, it will however, be thinner, more precisely 10 millimeters. Connect to, they can make the turbo-3g up to 7.2 Mbps, and probably also using w-lan.
On September 15, the Archos will present the new units. Some price data has not yet gone out with.
