Auction giant eBay Changes to Fee Structure
eBay is struggling with how Amazon.com recently announced a new fee structure, with the hope of new sellers. Many sellers have left eBay have previously complained that the fees were too high, and if something does not sell, it costs more to eBay than the money it brings in.
According to a newsletter from eBay to its members, eBay allows sellers to their first five articles per month to pay without a listing fee. In the past, eBay has great discounts for bulk seller on eBay from the burden of cost on the shoulders of those who are only a few things at once. Former users have said, “because of this, what to feel, like an online garage sale, where some treasures to be found, in just another online store.”
With the new fee structure, eBay is hoping to around sales on the site. The amendment allows sellers to list items without paying a fee for the listing of the first five items listed per month. This is the aim in the new providers and bring back many of the sellers, from eBay, because the interest rate increases. Instead of the list for the first five, eBay charges a flat 8.75% Commission, known on eBay as a final value fee. Those familiar with the sale on eBay are well known, the final value fee on all sales. The response of the eBay community, with many sellers is that the final value fees, with free admission fees “a hidden opportunity, more money and more punishment for the little guy.” Following the announcement on 16th June, eBay shares fell 1% closing at $ 17.23 per share. eBay stock hit its lowest level since 2001 this year, closing at $ 10.43 per share on 6 March. The fee change is for many the question is the free eBay listings in order from the recession, or will the change in the final value fee structure of the auction giant drive further into the ground?
