For mobile phone owners, finding good applications to use can be tiresome. Firstly, you have to ensure that the software is compatible with your particular phone model. In addition, if the application you want is a paid one, you need to scout around to find a suitable freeware alternative.
Phoload makes your search for quality mobile phone applications much easier. In the site’s own words, they are “a community website based on the idea that it should be simple, easy, and fun to discover and download free mobile phone games and applications”.
Downloading any application from Phoload is quite simple. You have an option to select your phone and then view the applications available for it. Alternatively, you can browse through application categories and select the one that appeals to you. Each application is labeled as to whether it’s free, a trial version, ad-supported, etc. While downloading an application, you can either download it to your phone directly or save it to your computer.

My current cell phone contract runs out in six months and I’m currently looking for options. One of the options is the new Nokia N97 cell phone which was announced at Nokia World in Barcelona. The cell phone will be the successor of the Nokia N96 which is currently Nokia’s flagship product for business users.
Nokia managers call it the Facebook phone. The reason is obvious. Nokia is gearing for the social networking and multimedia crowd as much as it tried to improve the business aspects of the phone.
The main features that make it interesting in my case are the full QWERTY keyboard, the WiFi support and the 640×360 screen. It does come with additional features like GPS, flash lite 3.0, tri-band HSDPA 3G, a 5 Megapixel camera or 32 Gigabytes of memory which will appeal to many users.

A search on the Internet for free cell phone ringtones usually leads to websites that claim to offer free ringtones but normally require the visitor to signup and pay for the ringtones anyway. Ringtones are quite a bit market which is somewhat surprising considering that many cell phones are capable of using audio files on the cell phone as ringtones. A visit to a site that can convert the audio of Youtube videos ensures that basically any song can be downloaded for free.
But some cell phones do not provide this opportunity yet. One way for owners of such cell phones is to use a free cell phone ringtone creator to create the ringtone. The website My MusicRings does require registration but does not send a verification email on the other hand and is therefor perfectly suited for creating a free ringtone in no time.. The service itself could not be more straightforward.
The user uploads an mp3 from his hard drive to the ringtone creation service in step 1. He will then have the option to select 29 seconds of the song for his ringtone by moving a slider on the waveform back and forth.

If you are (manually) starting the same application on your mobile phone over and over again after powering it on you might be inclined to autostart the application instead to speed up that process and reduce the time it takes to fiddle around with the phone’s controls. Some applications where this might be useful are voice recorders, music players or wifi detectors.
Powerboot might be just the application you have been looking for. It is compatible to a variety of mobile phones. Lots of Nokie phones like the popular N73, N95 or N96 are on the list of supported phones but you also find many Samsung and a few other mobile phone brands on the list.
The application works in principle like the Windows startup folder. The mobile phone owner selects applications that he wants to autostart and enables Powerboot afterwards. The selected applications will then be automatically started when the phone is turned on.

MobileWitch Remote Control turns your mobile phone into a remote control that can control various applications on your PC. The software does have a few limitations and requirements though. Both the PC and mobile phone have to support Bluetooth which is being used to send and receive the data. The user installs a server on the PC and a client on the mobile phone. Both applications have been programmed in Java. The author is explicitly mentioning Nokie mobile phones but chance is good that it works on other mobile phone brands as well as long as they meet the requirements.
The PC server application has to be started first. A small notification area displays status information and error messages. Everything else is handled by the mobile phone application. It provides four different modes: Mouse mode, Keyboard mode, Application mode and Utilities.
Mouse and keyboard mode give the user control over the computer’s mouse or keyboard which can be controlled with a joystick or the numeric keys. Application mode handles six applications that can be controlled using that mode if installed and on top of any other windows on the computer desktop.

The Opera development team seems to be doing their thing opposed to other browser developers who are more focused on the competition. The team released the second beta of the upcoming Opera 9.5 mobile browser yesterday which can be currently downloaded and tested but is supposed to be a commercial product once it is released in its final version. The current version Opera 8.65 is available for €19 at the Opera online store and this is probably the same price range that users can expect of Opera 9.6 mobile unless the Opera sales team would decide that they had to reduce the price because of the competition of the new Firefox mobile browser.
The new Opera 9.5 beta 2 is currently available for Windows Mobile and Symbian UIQ. A release for Symbian S60 phones is planned for 2009. The biggest new feature in this version is the mobile widgets support. Users should not confuse mobile widgets with widgets in desktop versions of Opera because they work and act different which is mainly caused by the limited screen space of mobile phones.
Widgets for Opera mobile are basically one click services that either open a function or website directly. Only a few widgets are currently available including a clock, Twitter or weather information.
